Do You Know About Jesus or Do You Believe In Jesus?

Do You Know About Jesus or Do You Believe in Jesus?

What is your favorite verse in the entire bible?  I asked that question to a gentleman just the other day over coffee.  And he quickly answered like many would, “John 3:16 of course.”  So I asked him why?  He said, "Because it’s so clearly tells me about Jesus.  For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son. That whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”  Which, of course, is a wonderful truth, that God the Father willingly sent God the Son, not only into the world, but on a mission to be the Savior of the world.  And how did He do it?  Through His death, burial, and resurrection.

But that glorious truth demands a response.  You see, I asked my new friend, “Then how Jesus changed your life?”  To that question, he said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”  You see; that’s a problem.  You can’t simply know about Jesus.  You have to believe in Jesus.  And when you truly believe in Jesus, it looks like something.  2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that when you believe in Jesus, “You’re a new creature in Christ, the old things passed away, behold new things come.”  So here’s the question, do you just know about Jesus, or are you believing in Jesus?  How can you tell?  Just look at your life.

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
