Jesus is the King of the World

How do you picture a king? Do you envision a man sitting on a throne in a large castle overseeing land and people, or maybe a knight in shining armor on a massive white horse coming back from a victorious battle with crowds of people cheering His return?

Well, if that’s the case, what do we do with John chapter 12 and the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey’s colt? Because the scriptures are so clear. It tells us, “Fear not, daughter of Zion, behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!” So Jesus, in fulfilling scripture, shows Himself to be the King of Israel, and He demonstrates what a true King is like by laying down His life so that others might live. A true king is humble, lowly, and loves His people more than He loves Himself, but Jesus is much more than the king of Israel. He’s the king of the world. Verse 19 tells us that when the Pharisees see him coming they say, “Look, the whole world is going after Him.” So Jesus is not only the king of Israel.  He's the king of the world. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. But here's the question. Are you believing in Jesus? And are you following Him as your king?

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
