Turning the Hearts of Kings

Have you ever thought what an amazing thing it is that God ordained beforehand that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem? Because that’s exactly what Micah 5:2 says, “But you O Bethlehem… from you shall come forth for Me one who is to be ruler in Israel.” So that’s God’s promise 700 years before the birth of Christ. And yet, God turns the heart of a king to orchestrate the details.

Just listen to Luke 2, “In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph went up from Galilee to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem.”  So all the political forces of the world are being guided by God; not for their own sake, but for the sake of all God’s people and ultimately their salvation.  God orchestrates all things, including Caesar and the census, so that when Joseph and Mary reached Bethlehem, she gives birth to her firstborn son and they called Him Jesus for He will save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21).  So just think about what that means for you and me.  How glorious it is for us to know that God orchestrates all things, even political leaders, for our salvation!

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
