Who is this Jesus Really?

Who is this Jesus Really?

Who is this Jesus really?  Is He the Prophet?  Is He the Messiah?  Is He from the line of David?  That’s what the crowd was asking in John chapter 7.  In fact, verse 43 tells us, “There was a division among the people over Jesus.”

So how do we answer their questions?  Well, if we look at Deuteronomy 18, we see that God tells us, “I will raise up a prophet from among the people. And I will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And whoever will NOT listen to My words, I will require it of him.”  Now do you know how Jesus responded after this series of questions?  In John 8:28, Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught Me.”  So Jesus is telling them that He is the one true Prophet.  He’s also from the line of David and He’s the Promised Messiah, who was lifted up and crucified on a cross so that He can offer salvation to anyone who believes in Him.  But here’s the question, will you listen to this prophet?  Or will God require it of you?

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
