Believers in Jesus Christ have lives that are marked by holiness and gospel proclamation, which means that they are called to submit to human authorities, even if it results in unjust suffering, so that unbelievers might see their good deeds and glorify God in heaven.
I. Living for God's Glory – (2:11-12)
A. Who are you? Elect Exiles – (2:11a)
B. How should you live? Holy – (2:11b-12)
1. Abstain from passions of the flesh
2. Keep your conduct honorable
II. Submitting to Man's Authority – (2:13-20)
A. Submitting to Governing Authorities – (2:13-17)
1. Because it's the will of God
2. Because they promote good and punish evil
3. Because Christ has set you free to do good
B. Submit to Earthly Masters – (2:18-20)
1. Because godly suffering will be rewarded
2. Because true faith empowers us to do so
III. Rejoicing in Christ's Salvation – (2:21-25)
A. Jesus Suffered Unjustly – (2:21-23b)
B. Jesus Entrusted Himself to God – (2:23c)
C. Jesus Died That We Might Live – (2:24-25)
